Dear Parents and Carers,
This week has seemed to have flown by. We still don’t have any official news on the Ofsted report but the date for releasing the report will be the 24th March. It will be available on the internet, through the official Ofsted website but we will try to put a copy on the school website as soon as possible.
We have a confirmed date for the SIAS inspection, Tuesday 30th March. Our inspector is called Carole McCormack. Currently Carole is the Deputy Director of Education for Diocese of Salisbury. She is an experienced SIAS inspector and I have spoken with her already.
We are very excited about the trip to the theatre next week. We wanted to find a way to fit another theatre trip in for the children, sorry for the short notice but we only received the details very recently to school. It was a great opportunity as it fitted so well with our earlier topic of significant authors.
This week has seen Oak class take a trip to Coldharbour Mill. It is so wonderful to see the children return to school so enthused about their learning. Oak are doing a lot of knitting and weaving. It has seemed so strange so many boys and girls knitting at every opportunity, I think the teachers and I underestimated just how much the children would enjoy the activity. The children have asked for a knitting club but unfortunately we have very limited skills in knitting but if you know anyone who would like to run a knitting club please let me know. I did teach myself two stitches over the weekend from the internet but I definitely need more practice.
I am delighted to welcome Jane Wood to our staff team. Jane was successfully appointed last week as a Teaching assistant in Oak class and a MTA for four days a week. She has already made a real impact in school.
Jane is passionate about the development of our school library and is going to offer an after school session for parents to use the library alongside their child on Wednesday’s afternoons from 3.40 to 4.30pm. Details to follow next week.
Well done to Willow class for taking part in Potted sports at The Kings, I had a lovely email from the organisers saying how well the children did.
A big thank you to FOPS for the new school benches. They are fantastic! They are really top quality outdoor furniture and I know the children will benefit greatly from them, especially as the weather is getting better. I know there are more resources from FOPS on the way so keep your eyes out for some really exciting things for the playground.
I am currently in talks with county to have the playground resurfaced, we will then be able to put some new fresh playground markings down to support the children’s playtimes and learning. I will keep you posted on developments.
We definitely have a new shed coming soon so we can bring our sports equipment back.
Anyway have a peaceful weekend
Have a great weekend,
Penny Carvill
